Exploring Moissac, My Hometown

On every Wednesday school only runs for half a day (which is awesome) so my first Wednesday in France I went out exploring the town with my host sister, mom, and my host sisters best friend.

My family lives on a mountain side, so to get to the town of Moissac my sister and I walked the scenic route down.  Here are some pictures from that.

This is the first thing we saw when we entered Moissac.  The streets are very tiny and the trees a very bizarre.

Here is a better picture of the trees.  They are very different than the ones back home.  These trees are everywhere in the south of France.

After entering Moissac we went to the Land of Opulence which is giant open area with a huge old tree with architecture from the romanesque period.

Steps to go above the Santiago de Compstela (a church)

A miniature organ that is played in the church

Steps going down (there were a lot of steps)
We then went inside the church, which is right in the middle of the town of Moissac.  The church was absolutely stunning.

Cool doorways looking out

Cool doorways entering the church

You can see the influence of Roman art on the architecture of this church

Just me this time!!

This picture shows how immense this church doorway was.  The attention to detail was incredible.

Inside the church

This is a huge and famous organ that is very complicated to play.  Organ players from around the world gather every year to study this instrument.

Once we finished with the church we went to a little chocolate shop for a treat.

We then walked down to the canal in the city to enjoy the chocolate.

Again with the cool trees.  I love it!!

In front of a famous hotel called the Moulin de Moissac

Im holding the yummy chocolates in front of the pretty trees!

To end our day we walked along the Canal des Deux Mers.  It was a little cloudy but still very pretty!
